KartletiX Challenge with 132 drivers from 5 countries was held at Rapla Karting Circuit on July 15th. A lot of drivers resulted in exciting races and often quite surprising results.

Zero to Hero – Rotax Max Senior

One to mention would be Rotax Max Senior. In qualifying Tõnis-Johannes Toomingas placed P3 on the grid, but found himself in a pileup on lap 1 in the first race. Early retirement forced him to start from P19 for the final with tyres from qualifying session. Beautiful overtaking early on in the race saw him up to P11 after lap 1 and already within top 5 after just 5 laps. After a red flag and stopage, Toomingas restarted the race from P3 to win from P19 on the grid after a real zero to hero drive.

Ragnar Veerus Fastest But…

Our KartletiX coach Ragnar Veerus had a great run, winning qualifying and the first final of the weekend. In the second final, though, Veerus hit engine troubles from the start which dropped him to P2. After two laps of attacking, the vibrations in the engine got bigger and not only affected acceleration anymore. Until the kart started misfiring and avoided gaining rpms even on the straight line from time to time. With great determination, Ragnar kept on pushing, holding on to P3 after 21 laps. But after three stoppages on the straights, he gave away 2 more positions for free and then cruised home, losing 2 seconds on the final lap.

“We were the fastest all weekend but kept fading as the race progressed. Didn’t fully understand the reasons behind except for that the others were catching up. But it looks like we had the problem from early on but it just showed its worse in the final eventually,” Ragnar commented.

Thank you to all the drivers and teams who took on KartletiX Challenge and see you again next week in Latvia for Rotax Nordic Challenge.
