KartletiX coach Ragnar Veerus continued to prove his pace in the heats of the Rotax Grand Finals, grabbing P2, P3 and P1 to end the day. Ragnar ranks P3 after the heats and will start Prefinal A from the front row.
Heat 2
After securing P2 on Wednesday night, Ragnar continued with brake problems in warm up on Thursday. The braking system on his Birel was replaced hours before heat 2, giving Ragnar only half a lap to make them work.
“I wasn’t too comfortable after warm up, and the first few laps on the lead were very rusty while I was adapting.”
On lap 6 he lost the lead to Jakub Bezel. And a lap later he was down to P3.
“We were a bit low on the pressures and only got up to pace in the last 2 laps. But it was important to bring home a top 3 position which we managed.”
Victory in Heat 3
Heat 3, held late in the evening, saw Ragnar starting from P1 once again. After another great start, he stormed to the lead and got a small gap. A few laps later other drivers starting making their move, and French man Anthoine Barbabroux got into the back bumper of the leading Estonian. Ragnar defended for two following turns until Barbabroux left the door open for Swedish Rasmus Fridell to get back up to P2. While the two fought it out in the end, Ragnar built a gap of over 2.5 seconds to snatch victory.
Upcoming Finals
KartletiX coach collected 135 points from the heats and occupies P3 in the standings. This gives him P2 in the grid for Prefinal A.
“The competition is getting tougher each race and we need to be at the top of our game to bring it home. Feeling and confidence is good, so looking forward to the final races.”
