
KartletiX coach Ragnar Veerus snatched provisional pole position in Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals qualifying practice in Bahrain. Leading the slower group, he recorded P2 overall in DD2 class
Provisional Pole
Ragnar Veerus was flying in his qualifying session, setting 3 consecutive pole laps at the end of the session. Ragnar set the fastest first and third sector times on his way to provisional pole position with a lap time of 52.492. His time was overthrown in the second qualification group, where Leonardo Baccaglini grabbed pole position with a 52.346.
P2 in Heat 1
The first heat race was held under the lights late in the evening. Ragnar finished started P2 in A+B heat, alongside the Italian. Avoiding a collision in turn 1, the KartletiX coach initially dropped to P5, regaining one spot by turn 2. He passed for P3 on lap 3 and for P2 on lap 5, going purple on the time sheets a lap later. Ragnar also started closing on P1 but finished the 10 lap race 3.9 seconds behind on P2.
Big Race Ahead
“I’m happy with the day. I had great pace in quali and also in heat 1. We have to stay focused and aim for stable results in the heats.”
The heat races will be finished by Thursday evening, after which the points will be summarised to form the grid for the prefinal on Friday.
