No Driver Aids
Karting is just man and the machine. The purest form of motorracing features driving a few centimetres off the ground level without any driver aids: no powersteering, driveshafts, traction control nor ABS. There’s not a lot of places to hide your shortcomings because the karts differ only a few tenths of a second between each other.
Karting Level is HIGH
The level of karting is the simply the pinnacle of motorracing not only because the stars of the future shape the current level but also because it’s much more affordable and raw talent has access to it. Karting drivers don’t need to collect points to get their license, neither do they need deep pockets to start their careers. Therefore, racing is hard and level is super high because the more drivers we have, the tougher the competition. And being the most accessible motorsport, karting has loads of talent on the grids.
Karts are BEASTS
The karts are super light and fast. They offer the purest feeling of grip, G-forces, acceleration and supercar braking ability. No powersteering makes driving very physical. Also, pulling 2-3Gs laterally each corner takes a toll on the drivers’ torsos and necks that only the top Formula divisions can match. Rocket-like acceleration of shifter karts is only similar to the biggest beasts of the motorsports world, only that karts are the simplest and cheapest machinery to provide such experience.
The steering requires more precision than any other machine. Every little movement translates into the kart’s stability, therefore, mistakes are unforgivable. There are no electronic driving aids to compansate imperfections.
No 1 Choice for F1 Driver Training
Top racing drivers in the world come to train in karts. And just like with any other motorsports discipline, it’s hard to match the professionals. The best racing drivers need to work hard to match pro karting drivers, even when they were once champions themselves. Fernando Alonso said that the hardest title of his life was the World Karting Championships. These karts are beasts and racing them in such a close field is a challenge that no other motorracing discipline can provide
